Braun 380s-4 Shaver Review
Most readers of the Men’s Boutique blog will know that we are serious fans of the safety razor, with a daily ritual that is designed to produce the perfect wet shave. However, there are occasions when this method of shaving is not optimal, and as you’re probably guessing, speed and practicality are at the top of this list!
I’ve never been a fan of the electric or battery operated shaver. Some call it preference but I call it ‘never finding the right shaver to meets all my needs’ – until now that is – so read on for our review of the Braun 380s-4.
First impressions
When I took delivery of the cordless Braun 380s, I have to admit I was intrigued, only in so much that I see myself as somewhat of a connoisseur of the wet shave and Braun were making the claim that the 380s not only offered a dry shave but also provided an incredibly close wet shave to boot!
The Braun 380s comes with a stand, compact travel case, charging cable and plug. I immediately set about charging the shaver (Braun says that a quick 5-minute charge is sufficient for one cordless shave), and within the hour, the device was fully charged and ready for its first shave.
Design, Look and Feel – Braun 380s-4
Immediately the 380s ticks all the boxes in the design category. Seriously, this is a beautifully designed shaver. Gone is the old-school clunky box-style electric shavers, now replaced with a mid-weight device that actually feels good in the hand. Add to this the masculine black rubber side grips for a secure hold, and metallic blue body design with indicator lights that signify battery charge level, and you have yourself one pretty cool looking shaver.
Shaving with Braun 380s
I decided that my first shave would be a dry one. Using a little pre-shave formula on my chin and neck area, I switched on the cordless shaver and started shaving, keeping my hand at a right angle and with my other hand gently pulling my skin taught, allowing the razor to glide over the skin. It felt quite smooth and there was no tugging.
The Braun 380s-4 makes a great gift. It’s perfect for a business man on the road
I did find the shaver got a little warm but no more so than any other shaving product with a similar specification.
Wet shaving with the Braun 380s
When I attempted the wet shave the Braun was true to its word, providing an equally good close shave. I was going on a weeks’ holiday for the Easter period and decided to take the 380s with me. The compact travel case not only looks good but kept the shaver safe and secure. And yes, the power is adaptable to any country, and has automatic voltage adaption too – we definitely like that feature!
Lathering up my face, I experienced the same very close results I had with the dry shave. It took a little while (for me) to get used to shaving in this manner, but I suspect that probably has something to do with my mind being conditioned to (wet) shave with a razor, rather than an electric shaver.

Where to purchase the Braun 380s
The Braun 380s-4 makes a great gift. It’s perfectly priced for the quality product that it is. This will be a gift that is appreciated for a long time to come; ideal for a business man on the road; perfect when you’re on vacation, or for those times when you just don’t feel like going through the routine of a full-on wet shave!
The Braun 380s can be purchased online from a number of retailers in the UK.
Our verdict
I have to admit that when we were asked to review an electric shaver I was a little apprehensive, only due to the fact that I’ve never really been impressed with any of the electric shavers I have previously tried. However, times have changed and technology has improved. I have to admit I really do like the Braun 380s and would recommend it for any man who wants a close shave – wet or dry, with a cordless shaver.
