Babyliss 7475U Super Clipper Review

One of the most frequently asked questions we receive at the Men’s Boutique is, “which are the best clippers for removing body hair?” I never find it easy to answer as there are many hair clippers on the market that can do a good job. However, there are very few that are made to last that also retain their original cutting power – hence, we are reviewing the Babyliss hair clipper 7475U.

The Super Clipper is a great product in the Babyliss men’s grooming range, designed to enable a precise and hair clipping and grooming experience, providing the perfect finish to hair, beard and body. It is a professional standard hair clipper which offers a high quality, controlled cut. It feels solid and easy to handle, so I am looking forward to my first manscaping session with it, to see how it copes with my coarse, unruly hair!

Power and Charging

Having charged the clippers for 3 hours I am able to use it cordlessly, though it can be used plugged into the mains if preferred. For me, the cordless option gives me more flexibility and control over what I am doing and I find it easier to manoeuvre the clippers. Holding its charge well, with 3 hours of full charge I’m provided about 75 minutes worth of use, and there’s also a 30 minute quick charge option which gives a 30 minute usage period for emergencies. The lithium-ion technology means that even when there is little charge left, the clippers retain their original power just as well as when they are first charged.

Cutting & Manscaping

The super sharp steel blades cut through even my thick hair quickly and easily, without any tugging, and I find I don’t have to clip the area over and over again, as I have had to with other clipper models. Due to their lightweight but solid feel, and uninhibited by a power cord, I feel that I have good control and technique when attempting the finer points of hair styling and beard grooming. The clippers feel flexible and I am able to cut and style my hair as accurately as I require. The clippers come with 8 x grade combs to enable varied length cuts, and ear guards to prevent nasty nicks. The fine adjustment taper means that it is quick and easy to get a neat and concise finish, giving my hair a professional-looking cut. The whole cutting process feels smooth and effortless from start to finish.

For Manscaping, I find the Babyliss Supper Clipper is perfect for removing chest hair. Using the included combs I am able to control how much body hair is removed. Attaching smaller combs is perfect for cleaning up and trimming harder to reach and more sensitive areas of the body, though I feel Babyliss should by now have developed clipper combs especially for manscaping. Nevertheless, I am very pleased by how neat and clean everything looks and feels.

Noise and Vibration Yes, the Babyliss Super Clipper does make a sound but it’s not noisy. I would describe it as similar to what you would hear from a pair of good barber’s clippers, with slightly less noise. Quite frankly I like that reassuring sound that comes from a pair of healthy clippers. I’d also say that there is very little vibration in comparison to other clippers.

Maintenance

As well as the 8 grade combs and ear guards, the clippers also come with a cleaning brush, lubricating oil and a little storage bag to keep it all together. If it’s cleaned after each use, it is simple to maintain and remains sharp and easy to use. It is wise to add some oil every now and again to make sure that everything runs smoothly. It also comes with a 5-year warranty, so if anything does go wrong, it can be fixed or replaced.

The Babyliss Super Clipper really gave me a professional looking haircut, with no pulling, a good and accurate response and was quick and easy to use. I would say that it ranks as one of the best hair clippers that I have used due to its professional feel (quiet, low vibration, smooth movement) and flexibility. I did find they got a little warm after a while but nothing that concerned me. I used to have a pair of old Wahl clippers that used to do the same thing – these have a much cooler temperature in comparison. It is difficult to find any serious criticism of the Babyliss Super Clipper; it is the closest to getting a professional haircut and groom you are going to get in the comfort of your own home.
